Car Show Update

Car Show was a Success!

Patten's Auto Repair & Moose Scoops held a benefit to raise money for the Wentworth Veteran's Memorial. The day was beautiful, sunny and filled with plenty of smiles.  Many folks from the surrounding communities came out to help support a great cause. There were a total of 52 registered vehicles for the car show.  We had many wonderful and great donations for the raffle table, some really tasty cheeseburgers, hotdogs and of course... ICE CREAM.

A special Thank you to CARZ Car Club Members out of WRJCT, VT., Ashley Cormier, and many other local friends and residents, who helped out during the event.  Patten's Auto was able to give a check to the Historical Society for purpose of  "The Wentworth Veteran's Memorial".  Craig Pasco, Treasurer, was notified and is aware of the results.

Welcome Tracy Currier

On behalf of the Town of Wentworth, The Board of Selectmen would like to extend a very warm welcome to Tracy Currier.
The Board is excited and pleased to have him accept the interim position as the newest Select Board Member.  Mr Currier took his Oath of Office on July 5th, 2017, and is a replacement for Pete Santom.  This position will be available for re-election in March of 2018.
Mr. Currier is a native to New Hampshire and has recently moved to Wentworth with his wife and three of five sons.  He is a retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant with 22 years of leadership and management experience.  After retiring from the Air Force, he continued for the next ten years working for the Department of Defense, at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency before deciding to return home where he now works for the State of NH, Forest Service.
Mr. Currier relocated to Wentworth so that he could raise their children in a safe and friendly community, and hopefully start a farm.  His children will attend Wentworth's Elementary School in the Fall.  His family supports local businesses and would like to be involved in the community.  He feels the balance of being a native to NH, and being a relative newcomer due to his long absence, will be beneficial to the Board and Community.
The Currier family purchased the Hinkley Homestead on Rte 25, heading toward Warren, NH.
Let's all please welcome, Mr. Currier and his family to Wentworth, with open arms!

Road Damage and Road Closures

Good Morning!

I hope this update finds all Residents, Family members and Friends...safe, healthy and comforted, knowing that your Town Selectmen, Road Agent, Highway Crew, and Fire Dept. Chief and Volunteers, have been working diligently for you.

The Severe weather storm forecast on 7/1/17 left some terrible damage and road closures in Wentworth, and roadways leading to the surrounding Towns.  The list is as follows:
1. Ellsworth Hill Rd.
2. Nichols Hill Rd.
3. Atwell Hill Rd.
4. Cape Moonshine Rd.
5. Beech Hill Rd.
6. parts of Rte. 25A

The Town of Wentworth is so lucky to have such a great community of people out there willing to help and work together.  We ask that if you are willing, to please contact The Selectmen, Fire Chief and/or the Road Agent.

Remember, these men are tired and some have been up all night keeping watch. If you see them out there...please be sure to Thank them and show them some appreciation.  (Just a little tidbit)  I bet they wouldn't squawk about some baked goods, homemade cooking or something to drink.  These are some things that help more than you'll ever know, and are appreciated beyond words.

At this time, 11:00 am on 7/2/17 the crews are trying to piece together, assess , inspect, and fix the major problems.  We ask that you remain patient while this process and the major priorities are being dealt with.

Several equipment operators, excavators, front loaders, dump trucks, gravel, stone, staymat, supplies and etc. are coming in from other Towns, including help from our own Residents and local businesses.  That's what communities are all about.

If your home, property, or roadways have been damaged, we ask that you get the necessary info together, along with many pictures to support this, we ask you get them to the Administration Office, and Select Board to assist and review.

Remember: if you have an emergency, Please contact 911.  DO NOT CROSS FAST MOVING WATERS, or try to take any canoe, kayak, or floatation device into the waters.  These currents have a lot of force and will pull you under.  Safety First...also, stay away from the banks or edges of roadways that have washed out.  There could be more Dangers of  FLASH FLOODING.

Further information will be updated as time allows.

Thank you again,

Arlene J. Patten
Administrative Assistant
for the Select Board
